At this point, you just want your kid back…
Your teenager has suddenly turned into someone you don’t recognize. They're arguing more, having trouble in school, or finding it hard to make friends. They oscillate between being withdrawn and explosive. Sometimes, you feel like you're parenting a werewolf. You're not sure if their behavior is normal or if they need professional help. They won't talk to you like they used to and you're at a loss for what to do next. Growing up is hard and teens may be weighed down by anxiety, depression, social difficulties, or trauma. Teens have unique developmental needs and deserve a therapist who can help them grow and thrive.
I specialize in helping teens understand and respond to emotions that can feel scary, overwhelming, or confusing. Together, we go beyond symptom relief to address the reasons behind behaviors to build lasting improvement and create a healthy, resilient foundation. I have a special appreciation for working with teenage boys but welcome clients of all genders.

How I can help *
Teenagers are people, not problems. My job as a therapist is to specialize in them and offer individualized treatment that gets to the bottom of whatever is causing them difficulties. Research shows that the bond between therapist and client is the #1 indicator of success in treatment, so that’ll be my focus as your teen and I work together to develop a plan of action to help them understand themselves and the world around them and cope with difficulties. Every teen I work with receives a tailored, collaborative treatment approach that meets them where they are and gives them ownership over their own therapy. No worksheets, no checklists, no boring activities that work in theory and flop in practice.
Because my approach focuses on the person rather than the problem, I have experience treating a wide variety of diagnoses. I have experience treating:
Anxiety
Social anxiety
Panic attacks
Grief
Depression
Suicidal ideation
Self-harm
Gender and sexual identity development, including queer and trans identities
School refusal
Sleep difficulties/insomnia
Childhood trauma and abuse (aka complex trauma)
Difficulties adjusting to life changes
Looking for scientifically proven ways to help your teen feel better delivered in a way that ensures their continued buy-in? I’ve got you covered.
-
Internal Family Systems
Teens often feel conflicted about their wants and needs and feel pulled in different directions. Helps teens get curious about opposing or difficult feelings that seem to make little logical sense and make peace with different parts of themselves.
-
Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy
Sometimes, you have to feel it to heal it. But how do you feel and what do you do with those feelings? Helps teens make sense of emotions and use them as guides for decision making.
-
Person-Centered Therapy
Growing up is about figuring out who you are. When you have a lot of messages about who you should be, it can be hard to drown out the noise and listen to your inner voice. Helps teens accept themselves and others, develop self-compassion, and feel radically understood and cared for.
-
Psychodynamic Therapy
Many teens know what they do but don’t always know why they do it. Sometimes, teens feel like they’re making choices on autopilot and getting lost in the process. Helps teens think about what motivates their behavior and make choices that serve them better in the future.
