You’ve spent a lifetime keeping it all together on your own. So why bother asking for help?

Even the idea of going to therapy feels like speaking a foreign language. You’ve gotten by just fine until now by sucking it up and handling your own business. And yet you’re finding yourself angry, depressed, anxious, and overwhelmed a lot of the time. Maybe people in your life have started to notice and suggested that you talk to someone about what’s going on. You’ve put it off for as long as possible, but you’re starting to wonder if there might be something to their suggestion.

There is more to life than white-knuckling your way through every day. You deserve a place where you can be open about what you’re really thinking and feeling without having to worry that you seem weak or like you’re complaining. The life that you want is on the other side of your discomfort and you don’t have to make that journey alone.

How I can help

How I can help *

Taking the first step to to admit that you’re struggling and would use a partner to walk alongside you is extremely brave. As your therapist, I’ll work hard to earn your trust and build mutual respect before diving into the deep end. I am not entitled to your story and it’s my job to make sure therapy moves at your pace and we follow your agenda. You are the expert in your life.

As you get more comfortable, we’ll work together to explore the root causes of why you feel the way you do, help you connect more deeply to your emotions, and choose next steps that are aligned with the man you want to be. The result of our work together will be a more authentic, decisive guy whose understanding of his emotions helps him be the husband, father, and friend he wants to be, free of the weight of anxiety, depression, anger, and resentment.

You’ve worked hard to build the life you want. It’s time to thrive in it.

Because my approach focuses on the person rather than the problem, I have experience treating a wide variety of diagnoses. I have experience treating:

  • Anxiety

  • Panic attacks

  • Grief

  • Depression

  • Suicidal ideation

  • Self-harm

  • Gender and sexual identity development, including queer and trans identities

  • Sleep difficulties/insomnia

  • Childhood trauma and abuse (aka complex trauma)

  • Difficulties adjusting to life changes such as divorce

  • Chronic and acute illnesses (cancer, traumatic brain injury, autoimmune diseases)

  • ADHD

Long-term solutions > short term fixes. If you’re looking for therapy that gives back the work you put in so that you can make real, lasting changes, you’re in the right place.

  • Internal Family Systems

Ever felt conflicted about your different wants and needs and feel pulled in opposite directions? Do you have a voice in your head that constantly puts you down or criticizes your every move? IFS therapy helps you get curious about opposing or difficult feelings that seem to make little logical sense and make peace with different parts of yourself so that you can take action.

  • Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy

Sometimes, you have to feel it to heal it. But how do you feel and what do you do with those feelings? Emotions are great consultants and bad CEOs. Helps you identify and understand your emotions and use them as guides for decision making so that you can stay in charge of your life.

  • Person-Centered Therapy

When you have a lot of messages about who you should be, it can be hard to drown out the noise and listen to your inner voice. Helps you get to know and accept yourself and others, discover your strengths, and identify areas of your life that may be out of alignment with your truth.

  • Psychodynamic Therapy

You may know what you do but don’t always know why you do it. Sometimes, you might feel like you’re making choices on autopilot and getting lost in the process, thinking about everyone’s needs except your own. Helps you think about what motivates your behavior and puts your behaviors in context so that you can take your rightful place in the drivers seat of your life.
